with no mum and weeks early, she took to us
and wouldn't let go, so we called her orphan
Annie, mum being a maiden mare has now become
an excellent mother, who now won't let Annie
out of her sight, but Annie's name stuck and
so did her bond with people, she has the
sweetest nature and dolly looks. everyone who
meets Annie falls in love with her.

Aurora Velvet Lynx x Holster Special Chance(Chip) He certainly is a
chip off the old block!
Sadly we lost Chip, leaving Clybucca
at 12pm, arriving at 8am after a slow and long
8 hour trip to Sydney University, the vet had
to break bad news that chip had extreme bone
damage to his hock, 2 of 3 bones were shattered,
and if he made it out of surgery, without infection,
he would then need another operation as a yearling
to try and fix the damage, with emotions running
high and lack of sleep I still persisted and
said while he is still fighting then no matter
the cost we will keep going. It was total honesty
on behalf of the vet that made the final decision,
once again if he was to survive both surgeries
with no infections, then complications will
arise, firstly his muscle mass was against him,
the position of the bone damage, with infection
already set in, the main factor was his quality
of life after repeated surgery, was slim to
say the least, he would never ride nor serve,
but this was still OK!!!
it was the fact that all 3 vets said that he would
have chronic arthritis and pain in that joint,
and that his other leg would give way because
of his muscle mass, and that his life expectancy
would maybe, be up to 3 yrs old?
So I sadly made a decision that will always keep
me guessing (what if?).
at the end of all this we returned home with mum,
who must have known we were trying to help, because
once a mare with her own mind soon turned into
an obliging mother who couldn't have made things
easier for me if I had asked her too, this mare
has earned respect with me for life.
The big fella up stairs only gave chip to me on
loan then took him back; chip will be sadly missed
and always remembered as a true fighter. Named-
Never Given A Chance... R.I.P little fella. |
